I have known many women that saved nothing. They spent every penny they make. Plus, money they don’t have via credit card debt. When I read stories like this about 65 year old men and women with no money, I always ask the same question: “What have you been doing the past 65 years?” It is easier than ever to invest in your future. Discount brokerage firms are everywhere. Fees/commissions have never been lower. Index funds are readily available to anyone with some money to invest. The local library has a wealth of books, newspapers and magazines that explain how to plan for retirement. All for free.
