My first dream job was to work for a major league baseball team at 17. It took me six years to get that job. I did. Then I wanted to work in the media. I did. Then I studied for my BA beginning at 37 years old. I did. I wanted to become a community college teacher which required an MA.. I did and finished writing a 135 page thesis at 52. My journey hasn’t been a field of cotton candy. Hard work yes. Perseverance is what it’s about. And a deep belief in self. Or as Thomas A. Edison said, ““Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.”

Last December at age 42, I received my EMPA (Executive Masters in Public Administration) with a 4.0 GPA in 18 months and paid in full with no student loan debt thanks to Tom’s inspiration! Just remember when you’re slugging through the most difficult part of the program and struggling with your thesis, it absolutely CAN be done! Thanks, Tom!
