The final show has got to be one of best things I have ever heard. The emotions are running but you can feel the love from the family that is the Tom Leykis Show and the P1’s. Tom’s final message is truly inspiring and one that should be remembered forever as the truth of it will never change. We have so much to thank you for Tom, you are truly selfless in all that you have given us. Can’t wait to join you in the next adventure and contribute in any way possible. We love you Tom.

Best 6 1/2 years of my life. Best be funny best callers all coming together in unity…beyond amazing.

  3. Ernie F. October 26, 2018 at 11:49 am #

Tom, congratulations to you and the boys on an amazing run and thank you for all the knowledge you have passed down. Yesterday’s live broadcast was bitter sweet and as you transition to a podcast I personally am excited about the change . My favorite part of your live stream was listening to your intros and listening to what you had to say. A podcast is exciting to me because i expect it will be a more personal experience and it will be only you speaking to me/us and that’s my favorite part. I will continue to support all that you do and I plan on being a subscriber for as long as you continue to bless us with your work. Thank you

I’m looking forward to it. Outside of a wild call outta nowhere or a great Be Funny segment, the strength of the show has always been the strong monologues from Tom or Tom and the boys shooting the shit about whatever. That’s not to say I won’t miss the callers, I just think the new format will be fine.

  5. Mesa Bob October 26, 2018 at 11:55 am #

To echo many others, so glad that you moved forward on your own terms. It made the transition so much less shocking than in ‘09! I feel a little more empty with regards to the sheer volume of content that I’ll be able to access, but not so empty emotionally! I’m so looking forward to the next format of the show via podcast, and my goal is to contribute to the “kitty” in every way possible!

  6. John Car October 26, 2018 at 11:57 am #

I’m just happy it lets Tom continue to impart his wisdom to us.

  7. Charles Thomas Goolsbee October 26, 2018 at 12:08 pm #

Tried to call but could never get through.

First and foremost, fuck the freeloaders. Insult to injury was the fact that it took you making good your promise to actually get people to step up and actually support the show.

It was an honor to be there in the studio with you and the guys (and fellow P1s) on Tuesday. Thank you again for the invitation. My sole regret will always remain going 2x on the chicken sandwich. Should have had the burger. My travel regime forced me to miss the Wednesday show, but I have SPT, so i’ll always have any episode I need.

Best of luck you you, Gary, Dean, and Mike, in all your future endeavors. I will support them every way I can.

Most of all thank you for your wisdom, insight, and support. It literally saved my life at least twice.

  8. John Goethe October 26, 2018 at 12:08 pm #

I completely support this move. Your content has value. You should be compensated for the effort. You aren’t the only creator making the move behind a pay wall. I will continue to support you guys, both Tom’s show and Gary and Dino’s show.

“Bittersweet” is the feeling I have in regards to the final Live Stream show. But, also, joy, satisfaction and triumph. One of the greatest shows ever broadcast, in any form, in any place, or at any time. The tribute to The Real Don Steele was surreal and mystical. Almost spiritual. You hit home on “change” and we all must embrace it. Selfishly, I never wanted the Live Stream to end. However, there is comfort knowing you did it on your terms! Not anyone else’s. And furthermore, you’re still here! Although, it feels almost like a death of a best friend. It will be “Podcast Tom” from now on & I hope the change will fill the void of not hearing you each and everyday. The past 6yrs were so great, I cannot even remember what life was like prior to 2012. Please keep the “Dinners with Tom” going. You’re a legend in your own time! Tina Delgado is alive! And so is Tom Leykis!

  10. Lou October 26, 2018 at 12:18 pm #

Thanks Tom for the years of laughter, seriousness, and your knowledge about money, women, life, etc. The last show was amazing. Had my 16 year old daughter listen to the show and especially the part about following your dreams and keep pushing forward no matter how hard it seems! All the best to you, Gary, Dino and Timmy! Will be on the lookout for you’re next adventure! Lou in San Diego saying blow me up Tom!

  11. Kevin Biggs October 26, 2018 at 12:22 pm #

Sad to see it go, but also welcoming the progression and very happy to see you taking the time to enjoy the fruits of your work. Thanks for everything. Ive gained so much since literally stumbling across your show in 96.

  12. Carlos Daniel Lara October 26, 2018 at 12:24 pm #

Support your decision 1,000,000 % I’m with you.

  13. Drew Torgenrud October 26, 2018 at 12:32 pm #

While it’s a bummer you can’t take the guys with you into the next creation you have enough talent and knowledge there is no doubt the podcast will be great. I am looking forward to listening and sure hope it exceeds your expectations. This P1 community is something a lot of others would kill to have. I have every intention of continuing to suscribe until the day you decide to turn of all the switches. Lastly I sure hope there are more dinners in the future. This last year in Seattle is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

You couldn’t have done it better. You’ve done the unfathomable. Led a nation of men and some women in the right direction. And guided us on how things should be. Despite all of this fucking insanity in our nation. Thank you just isn’t enough

  15. Adam in KC October 26, 2018 at 12:41 pm #

Going out on top, I lived the final show and the Real Don Steel broadcast. Looking forward to subscribing as you go on.

  16. Gordi October 26, 2018 at 12:49 pm #

Thank you, does not seem like enough to say to a friend, mentor and really, a family member since 1988. 30 yrs together. Since 97.1 in Detroit. I moved to LA in 1994 and viola, serendipitously it was 97.1 in LA. where I listened to you each day. Wherever you moved on the dial, I followed. Like you, I have followed my dreams. They took me to a new career and life outside of the USA. So, the Live Stream was a Godsend! During the years 2009-2012 I always thought about you, and wondered what you were doing & how you were. I searched the internet for any info I could find. Funny, I pictured you on a ranch in SoCal enjoying life to its fullest 🙂 And there you are! What Vin Scully was to you, you are to me and probably thousands of others. I will be tuning in on the podcast and hope to add to the content kitty through social media and emails. It ain’t goodbye. Unlike Steve Dahl, this ain’t over until YOU say it’s over! Long Live the King.

  17. Kevin lauro October 26, 2018 at 12:56 pm #

Sad that the live stream had to end but us p1s know why you had to do it. I only found out you were back on the air in August of 2017. I enjoyed every second that I was able to listen live. “Thank you tom” I will continue to support future podcasts.

  18. Angel October 26, 2018 at 1:13 pm #

    Fuck the free loaders.
Professor, you have been very patient and generous for too long with these fuckers. Time for these peeps to put skin in the game. Long over due….
Thank you for all you do. I have been a proud p1 for years now, and I will continue to be a p1 for whatever you do next.

  19. Pay October 26, 2018 at 1:48 pm #

Tom thank you for being apart of my life. I started listening to you when you were on the radio in Vancouver BC in 2001 or 2002. Since then I have become successful in my career as a musician getting my F-you fund was key now I don’t have to work a stupid job to makes ends meat. I can focus on what I do best. I also have been successful hiring rock star people to help me with my professional life. My finances are in order and am happy making the big bucks. Sincerely P1 pat

  20. Luis October 26, 2018 at 2:01 pm #

Definitely bummed not having the show live everyday anymore. I discovered the show in 2014 and have listened almost every day. It was life changing. Thanks for everything, Tom. I’m looking forward to listening to your podcast.

You are the best. Period. Thank you for sharing your life with me. Please be well and have a wonderful life.

  23. Jeremy Myers October 26, 2018 at 2:47 pm #

Tom, first had trouble listening. Sad knowing probably last call in live podcast of your show. It’s amazing how you ended the show. No other show or any kind that I know of has ever given listeners opportunities to call in and say their goodbyes or what ever they liked to say. First listened to you when was 24. Quickly changed how I saw myself in great ways. Knew you’d end your show in my lifetime and hoped would last until at least I’m 40. April 1st I did turn 40. Years ago thought I’d be in huge debt still at this age. Now am doing great thanks you Tom. With my super premium am looking forward to next weeks new podcast.

  24. Kay October 26, 2018 at 3:15 pm #

As awesome as the live streaming show was, I feel like a lot of the audience were excluded from participating because it conflicted with our work or personal schedules. I think the transition into a paid podcast model is a very positive thing. Many of us were downloading archived shows and listening to it on our own time like a podcast anyways. Why not just make it the best podcast ever then? Now the show won’t be constricted to being a live call in show and it can be anything it wants to be.

I’ll miss all the amazing callers and Tom’s quick witted retorts, but I’m all about change. And this seems to a move towards a major improvement. (Maybe we can still do occasional call-in podcasts by announcing a call in time?) The podcast also allows Tom to work according to his own schedule so he can watch out for his health. I appreciate all the sacrifices Tom made throughout this entire project to bring us regularly scheduled shows, but it breaks my heart every time I hear about him being sick. As much as he cares about us, we need to watch out for him too!

Take care of yourself, Tom! We all love you and we need you to continue your amazing work as long as you can! Thank you for all that you’ve done for me and other listeners. I’m looking forward to an even better Tom Leykis Show!

  25. Jeremy Rubin October 26, 2018 at 3:27 pm #

I enjoyed your final thoughts and loved that old broadcast. In fact, I’m going to Sears this weekend to get one of those electric garage door things. The one thing I was hoping for was “Tom Leykis signing out.” Thanks for a great run!

  26. BIg Angry Phil October 26, 2018 at 3:48 pm #

As much as I hate to have the live show end, I understand why it is. Freeloaders and trolls can now officially fuck themselves, now it’s time for them to put up or shut up. Appreciate everything Tom and the show has brought, including sound advice, entertaining topics, and Be Funny. Gary, Dino, and Mike Timpson are among the absolute top of the heap, and I wish all of you the absolute best and will continue to listen to what’s next.

  27. Wojtek October 26, 2018 at 3:58 pm #

It was great to hear your perspective on life in California and USA in general. Before I found the show, all I knew about America came from the movies. I also learned a lot about life, people and money. Thanks for all the lessons and entertainment. Looking forward to the podcast.

    Tom,

I’ve been a listener in Alaska since 1997, and a continuous P1 subscriber for 5 years, and I will continue to be until the day you hang it up for good. Thank you and your entire crew for all of your excellent work and content over the years. Thank you for inspiring me to strive to achieve my dreams. I still have a long road ahead, but I am well on my way and I know I will get there.
    Thanks Dad!

  29. On 10/25/18 Tom Leykis did a send off from “The Tom Leykis Show’s live stream that blanketed the audience with goosebumps, feelings of celebratory appreciation and different stages of real emotions. It was very ghostly like to hear.

The Tom Leykis Show’s Live stream went at it heavy handed for well over half a decade. The show impacted me in several beneficiary ways. I became friends with all the members who worked on The Tom Leykis Show, spend so much moments with them and to me they are family.

Whoever listens to this show will gain several turbocharging weapons that will help them navigate through life far easier with philosophies put in a methodical way like many can not. Anyone who knows me knows I talk about Tom Leykis like we are related.

During the final ending of the show Tom hammered out winning advice, life sentiments and he was slightly introspective about his past radio pilgrimage. Tom also mentioned how to beat the living daylights out of barricades in your way, do the right thing, and how to win at life. There was also a homage peppered into the CLOSURE moment of with a deeper meaning you really had to listen for regarding/referencing the radio legend the Real Don Steele with the saying “Tina Delgado is alive, alive.” (THAT was badass & pro level orchestrated!) Wow wow wow.

20 years ago I was asked by a producer I prank called for years, during a meeting in his San Francisco office. I was asked to help side produce idea’s for the Don Bleu Show, write material because the producer at the time liked my creativity. (Not gloating) I decided to work KMEL radio station instead. Fast forward…That was a bad move and I always gelt I missed out. Consequently I made up for it with Tom Leykis decades later because I got to do some amazing things with my radio hero that I can’t put a self worth price tag on.

I am excited to find out what Tom Leykis does next and I’ll support not only Tom, but also Gary, Dino and Mikey far into the future with whatever they do.

Thank you New Normal Crew, I had goosebumps after the stream in Burbank California signed off. I am still in awestruck knowing what creative magic came out of that dark & creative studio. I feel like my radio station work started with Radio legend Rick Chase when I was 15 and ended with my friend Tom Leykis when I was almost 40 years old.

    Your boy for life,

    Danny Smith
    Dan Diesel
    Coralee Joyce Kissner
    And Etc.

The show has meant wonders to me. I have gone through many phases in my life over the last 6 years all while listening. Still no kids, still no wife, still no girlfriend. I have more money in my pocket because of you. You have taught me how to have the courage to start a business, create lasting friendships, and have confidence to be the person I want to be. I am always here to back you up like you have for me.

Anyone would dream of having a mentor like you Professor. Thank you my friend.

  31. Todd Brown October 26, 2018 at 5:09 pm #

I appreciate your advice, Tom. Moving out of California to Austin, Texas was one of the best things I ever did. Also I got to talk to Dino twice and Gary twice. Mikey was funny with the drops and all the times I was on Be Funny. Thanks to the callers as well. I fucking loved Money Monday. Looking forward to the podcast at premiumtom.com

  32. MARCO P. October 26, 2018 at 5:27 pm #

I didn’t get a chance to listen because I had two midterms that day. I wanted to thank you for all you have done for me. Listened to you since 97.1 in the early 2000s. Your advise has helped me a lot. No kids, never married, and went back to college. I’ll be graduating May next year and it’s all because of you. I’ll be majoring in accounting – tax. I know it’s not a sexy major but it will pay good in the end. In Those long nights of studying when I wanted to quit I remember your advice and it helped me continue studying. Never had a dad but I had you for advise. Thank you Tom.

  33. Moparmann October 26, 2018 at 6:34 pm #

Found you in Anchorage, Alaska way back when. Moved back to Texas and it wasn’t broadcasted here in my area. Missed you until i saw you was going to start a web show. Listened on 1st day, became a subscriber, shared the show with friends, now the end of another era. Will stay subscribed and look forward to the podcast.
Thank-you Tom, Gary, Dino, Mike, Art , and everyone for all you did over the last 6 years.

  34. Lawrence October 26, 2018 at 6:42 pm #

Ending on the note in which you started to truly become Tom Leykis, the words of the Real Don Steele, was a very fitting end, and an ideal note on which to start a new beginning. RDS’s America is in the past, and a newer America is trying to develop in a more stable form.

One thing is sure: the entire focus of our society is matriarchal: women first, women second, and men, not at all, save as beasts of burden, to be casually discarded when broken. I would settle for indifference to masculinity, and will not be allowed even this. It is active opposition we face, on all possible fronts, and the opposition cares not one iota for the fact you are alone, cold, broke, naked and afraid. Indeed, they rejoice at having beaten another “male” without laying a hand on him.

My life changed dramatically when I heard Tom give his “women are dreamkillers” speech. All of a sudden, something else he said struck home with Saul on the Road to Damascus force: “I know why you are listening to me. I know why you are driving around, stopping at sports bars, wherever you can for a long as you can: YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO HOME.”

I pulled over on the side of the road, and just stared, reviewing all of my relationships in the light of this profound observation. My illusions were shattered. Imagine wanting to go home to a dreamkiller. Our society encourages this, in thousands of small ways, to our detriment, in thousands of small ways.

Tom was, and is, the ONLY one who recognizes the degree to which men have become boys in the bodies of men, have become infantilized, and is teaching us baby steps to recover our masculine identities, on our terms.

I think Tom should offer call in counseling (“life coach”) for, say, $250 an hour. I heard him talk people out of suicide on the air, with incredible skill. I heard him counsel men with nothing left, and nothing left to lose, into stating over again, on the higher ground of truth.

Only Tom validated them as good, decent, hard-working people in their own right, worthy of respect in their own right.

How much of your life, your money, has been wasted on empty and futile attempts to impress others with something you bought that you didn’t need, with money you didn’t have? That new car? Buy a good used car, take the difference in payments, and invest in a no-load mutual fund like Vanguard. Over your working lifetime, the difference probably come to over a million dollars, all wasted, to impress people you will never see again.

You can see how effectively we have been gelded, and that is a trivial example.

$250 an hour is tip money, compared to the satisfaction, peace of mind, purposeful achievement, and other forms of wealth you will realize when the scales fall from your eyes, and Tom can remove those scales, those illusions and illusory limits imposed on you by others, in less than an hour.

The lessons he teaches in solving personal problems would be useful for all of us, with anonimity guaranteed, if you wanted parts of it posted at all.

You see, this is the one grand issue we all have to deal with: the Matriarchy is devoted to our diminshment today, our invalidation tomorrow, and the end of us, all of us, the day after. And we get to pay for it all, one way or another.

Monday begins a new day, gentlemen. Let’s take full advantage of it.

    “Gentlemen! Welcome to Fight Club!”

Totally fuck anyone who didn’t get onboard to support the show & keep it live. If you care about something & you want to keep it around or support it. You do what you can to keep it around. I’ve never expected free shit in anything I’ve done & I didn’t expect for others to do for me. I’ll do for others silently & get mad should others decide to do such for me. Just my work ethic & personality I guess. So, fuck those who’ve taken advantage of the kindness ou’d fellow P1s & the staff of the New Normal. I hated when I was unable to attend any events due to work. And I’ve greatly enjoyed & appreciated when I was able to make the events. They were always an excellent time & good environment. You’ve shared & educated many listeners on more than just L101, Money Mondays, was an excellent segment, Be Funny fucking awesome! Wop loved it. Because, it was so spontaneous. Tom whatever you and the rest of the guys do I’ll be a part of it & support it.

  36. Lenny October 26, 2018 at 7:35 pm #

Like what you said on your last show, we cannot be afraid of change. We should embrace it. Perhaps it would work out better than the live shows!

  37. Jorge Valencia October 26, 2018 at 9:20 pm #

Sad to see you go professor.
But glad to see that you are off your way and with glory.
Best of wishes on all your future endeavorsand.
Oh yeah and I am ready for the Podcast oh yeayshhh.

I’ll miss all you guys. I listened from the day you restarted in 2012 to about 2016, and just out of the blue reconnected with the site on the exact day of your last show. You started a movement that today has many younger advocates. You are one of the modern Godfathers of “red pilling.
Take care Big Guy, I hope to come across you again one day.

    • Tom Leykis October 27, 2018 at 7:59 am #

No need to wait. I have a new podcast this Monday right here:

  39. Shane October 27, 2018 at 9:44 am #

Thanks to you and the guys (Gary, Dino, Mike, and everyone else behind the scenes) for all of your work on the show. I am an active Super Premium Tom subscriber and have been a subscriber since June 2012. Unfortunately I was rarely able to participate as I was usually working when the show was on but listened to nearly every show.

I appreciate the wisdom that you shared. My favorite shows were the shows where you had a monologue about success, dream killers, improving one’s life, work/career, finance, society, big companies, and the like. While I enjoyed the calls that took place afterward, the monologue was the highlight of those shows and I am sure that will carry over well to the podcast world.

I also appreciated your cooking advice. If it weren’t for your show, I probably would not have purchased a bread machine nor cooked a homemade pizza. I enjoyed eating homemade pizza on some of the days that I was able to listen to your show live.

I am one of your oddball fans that never lived in LA or any of your markets. I first heard you in the early 90s syndicated on WLS (the station that just shit canned Steve Dahl). It was a very different show back then if I remember correctly and you were not on for very long. In the mid to late 2000s, you resurfaced in Chicago on WCKG (again, a station that featured Steve Dahl at the time). How ironic was it that the live stream ended on the day that Steve Dahl was fired!

Good luck with the podcast. I am sure it will be a success and I plan to continue to support your business.

  40. Mike Hawthorne October 27, 2018 at 12:08 pm #

The last week of shows were all amazing. Not just because of the content but also because of the production quality. Keeping the production quality sky high right to the very end was so professional. I loved it. I’m looking forward to the podcasts. Tom radio monologues were always the best part of the show in my view, so if we get monologues only from now on then I’ll be more than happy with that.

  41. Rogelio October 27, 2018 at 3:46 pm #

It was Déjà vu for me and a lot of long time listeners.
I can’t thank you enough for taking my call the previous WOP and allow me to vent all the feelings I was holding inside.
Your last message was spot on. I will remember that forever.
I am regretting not calling the show from the beginning. But I am glad that I got the courage to do it in the last few months.
Best of wishes to Garry, Dino and Mike.
    Thank you Professor.

  42. Alex December 3, 2018 at 5:23 pm #

I just subscribed again to your podcast after my subscription expired in April, I am super overjoyed. I really think this format is way way better!
