More than a third of Americans haven’t saved any money for retirement. That’s the dramatic finding of a new survey which also found that among those nearing retirement — aged 50-64 — 26% had no retirement savings, along with 14% of those 65 and older.

its ridiculous you work your entire life and have nothing and need to working until the day you die just to survive talk about losers…..
I’d love to save, but after the government takes half my check in taxes, there’s nothing left.
this truly is a crisis. additionally, for a certain group of those that do have money, much of it is tied up in one asset: their real estate. if the market is healthy then this is good. if you have a bad market then things are bad. example: a housing crash could come from a large group of boomers all downsizing at the same time. your property becomes illiquid and/or heavily devalued due to a shortage of buyers from the next generation.
many people have not saved enough over their lifetimes and are not diversified enough with the money that they do have.
