I’ve often wondered what would happen if a guy bought a winning lottery ticket with money from a joint account he shares with a woman. He was wise to send a lot of it offshore to prevent it being caught up in a legal battle here in the US…

When it comes to big money, every cockroach you have ever dealt with will come out of the floor boards and try to pry as much of it as they can from you. Should be interesting to see what happens in this case. Only one thing is for sure. The lawyers will make a bundle, no matter the outcome.

Wow….The luckiest guy on the planet….Until the ex girlfriend came back. I highly doubt she will win the case. She wasn’t married to the guy. Then again this is America….anything is possible!

There is no common law marriage provision in the state of NJ. They had lived together for ten (10) years and have a child together. The woman also filed for an Order of Protection ( surely as a bargaining chip ) as they have still been living together through this. He is now out of the house and the woman, with their child, is in the house he purchased after winning the lottery. Order of Protection are the #1 tool women use against men in divorce and all the white knight judges out there loooove to be the rescuer of the woman. Based on the fact there is no common law marriage in NJ, you could live with someone until the next ice age and still not be able to claim marital property. Additionally, we all know any oral contract is not worth the paper it’s written on. Finally, we can all surmise that the Order of Protection is a ploy to get custody so that the woman gets full custody and child support. She is going to get paid one way or another – and we all know the child’s needs will exponentially increase now that this man has won the lottery. It amazes me how a child is fine wearing clothes from ROSS and taking the bus to school yet as soon as money is involved on the man’s side of the equation, the mother argues that the child now needs Versace diapers and a Maybach to take them to school. It is so easy (for the Court and women alike) to spend other people’s money.
