Maria Kang, ‘fit Facebook mom’ accused of fat-shaming with Facebook picture

whats your excuse

Mother and fitness buff Maria Kang has ignited a firestorm in cyberspace with her “what’s your excuse?” Facebook photo, which shows her in a sports bra and short shorts, posing with her three young sons. Some call it flattering and inspiring, others call it insulting and overly revealing, but Kang’s photo has gone viral — and global — as media outlets from California to London have covered the controversy.

Posters and bloggers have accused Kang, 32, of “fat shaming,” claiming her photo suggests that all women can look like her if they just work hard enough.

And she is right! You burn fat, you are not fat. It’s that simple. Seems to me truth is not easy to swallow for most.

See many MILFs like this at local gym. .. they are nice eye candy to notice while
working out. Kang must put in lots of effort to be in great shape. More power to her and all others that work at it.

All the bitter women are being haters, calling Mrs Kang a bully. They are the ones up in arms and leaving insulting messages. More proof that women hate other women and get jealous. Based on what I’ve read, the fit mom works full time, has no nanny and exercises about an hour per day. She does not watch TV, does not play on her phone, and limits all junk food. The bitter broads are all saying they’d rather eat and live the way they want, and actually enjoy life rather than deprive themselves. Well, guess what ladies, that is why you weigh 200 pounds. I am willing to guess that the mom in the article runs, jogs or walks very quickly wherever she goes when possible. I bet she parks her car further away from the store to get those few extra yards of walking. The husband says she has learned good time management skills, and my opinion is, she has one thing the bitter broads don’t have; focus. I say good for her! She is willing to make sacrifices to achieve her goals and teach her kids to live healthy lives by using herself as an example. She has, and is making exercise a fun and important part of her family’s life. Perhaps, I would not have had some of the difficulties that I had growing up, if this been a focal point in our household.

I was also under the impression that as a society, we were supposed to be concerned about body image and young girls. So why is this lady being harassed for showcasing a positive body image message with her kids?

She isn’t shaming anyone. She is saying “I can be healthy by making lifestyle choices, and, like you, I don’t have a lot of extra time because I have kids. I can do it, and so can you” That isn’t shaming, its sharing an attainable achievement through hard work, sacrifice, and dedication.

I was working and didn’t know that this was the subject until hours after it aired live. I will be working Friday also, so I won’t be able to call about this subject during this week.
